William Michael Fisher, aged 73, of Los Fresnos, Texas, departed this life on Saturday, September 21 2024. Born on March 14, 1951, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, he was the cherished son of William and Doris Fisher. Mike's formative years were spent in Creston Iowa. He had a passion for photography and model railroads. A man of intellect and ambition, he earned his degree from Grinnell College in Iowa before furthering his education at the Bates College of Law at the University of Houston.
In 1980, Mike made Brownsville, Texas, his home, where he soon joined a collective of legal minds to establish the esteemed Law Firm of Roerig, Oliviera, and Fisher LLP, dedicating himself to the practice until his well-deserved retirement in 2016.
In 1975, Mike wed Carmen De La Rosa in Harlingen, Texas, and together they welcomed their beloved daughter, Camille, in 1982, who was affectionately known as his “baby girl.”
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Dr. William A. Fisher, and his mother, Doris B. Fisher, both of whom resided in Harlingen. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Carmen Fisher; his cherished daughter, Camille; his sister, Andrea Maril, residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and his brothers, Charles Fisher of Harlingen, Texas, and Stephen Fisher of Houston, Texas.
The community is invited to a visitation in his honor on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service commencing at 6:00 p.m. at Los Fresnos Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The Gladys Porter Zoo or a charity of your choosing, celebrating Mike's love for life and nature.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Los Fresnos Funeral Home, located at 1005 S. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, Texas.
On day after Mike's Memorial Service, on behalf of Camille would like to express our heartfelt gratitude
to all who have posted and especially to friends and relatives who attended on such short notice. A very special thank you to my sister, Dora and brother in law Tony Villanueva, whose Biblical Scriptures & songs they selected to sing conveyed the true essence of Mike's spirit. To the generosity of VBMC Radiology Group for the unexpected delicious trays of food they sent for guests. To the staff at Roerig Oliviera &Fisher LLP for beautiful flower arrangements. Thank you, Judge David Sanchez & family for beautiful big plant . A gigantic thank you to my wonderful siblings, their spouses , nieces & nephews for always being there for us. A huge thank you to my niece, Becky & love of her life, Rey for helping Camille with Mike's photos. And, Sabrina your enthusiastic last minute help with Guest book, we will always treasure. To Jessica Cortez, Zeke Padilla and staff of Los Fresnos Funeral Home a huge Thank You for your compassion and endless help . We will never forget your thoughtfulness.
Hopefully the term " co-creating with God" applies to Mike's spiritual side. When we bought our 32 acres back in 1994, the land had been used for farming and was treeless. Now the property is mostly wild with hundreds of trees and native shrubbery. It is teaming with an abundance of wildlife, birds, butterflies and every insect imaginable. Now, alongside with our close friends, Patrick Burchfield, longtime Director of Gladys Porter Zoo and his loving wife Carol, our joint properties will hopefully remain in it's beautiful wild state and be a home to present and future generations of wildlife.
This all happened with God's never ending love and thru Mike's hard work and love for nature.
Godspeed, Love of our lives. We will ALWAYS Love you and Miss you Greatly.
Truly, Carmen & Camille Fisher
