San Juana Guajardo

“If You Are Reading This, WELL I’m Dead” by Janie Guajardo “It Finally Got Me Folks”

Our Mother, Mrs. Janie Guajardo born on April 26, 1957, the daughter of Gregorio and San Juanita Galvan, made her transition on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Now, the majority of the public will want to read the typical obituary. The public will want to know for example: her profession, hobbies, community service, marriage and to whom, how many years, her siblings, her children, education, friends, enemies, and perhaps her bra size. Mom had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor and would appreciate that. So, in contrast, we would like to describe her from the eyes of her babies.

Our mom was our safe place, our constant, and our hearts first home. Her arms were our shelter, and her heart was a compass to guide us. She provided peace, a strong foundation, and endless sacrifices. Mom had a laugh that could light up the darkest days, even as the illness of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy ravages her body, she remained a pillar of strength and courage. She was fearless in anything that challenged her. Mom gave the best embraces, so perfect that the world around us would go quiet and all you would feel is her love tightly and endlessly wrapping around our souls. These are the moments that we will remember, no matter where we go, we will always belong to her.

Above all, she was a loyal daughter, the rock for her siblings: Herlinda Benavidez, Nellie Galvan, Goyo Galvan, Genaro Galvan, and Rolando Galvan. She was the driving force for her husband of 47 years, James Guajardo. She was the never-ending strength for her children, Melyssa Jane Sanchez, Jacob Guajardo, and Miranda Joe Guajardo; and she was the sugar for her two grandchildren, Isaac and Samantha Sanchez.

However, per mom’s final request, if you really need to know those answers to the questions at the beginning of this “obituary” then here they are: Bank Teller, Anything she put her mind to became a hobby, Everyone knew Janie in the community, husband James Guajardo, too long, 5 siblings, 3 kids, High school was enough, Too many friends, a lady named Juana, and it was always a perfect 36D!

Mom’s message to all those reading this is:

“Don’t be so hard on yourself, don’t be afraid to mess up, and please believe in yourself because the journey is meant for you to get lost and find yourself as many times as it takes. Enjoy every moment, I know I did!” – Janie Guajardo

I’ll be here Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. if you wanna drop in, and possibly a rosary at 6:00 p.m. if we can get our priest here. If not, then stay and have a few conversations with my girls, my amazing and crazy sisters, or just anyone there. Enjoy the moment.

P.S. Don’t worry about me I’m finally singing and loving on with my David Cassidy.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Los Fresnos Funeral Home located at 1005 S. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, Texas.
