Rudy Garza

Rudy Garza, 58, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026 in San Benito, Texas . He was born on March 3, 1968, in San Benito to Ramiro and Ida Martinez Garza.

Rudy was a man who cherished the simple things in life most — his family, the outdoors, meaningful traditions, and time spent with the people he loved. He was of the Catholic faith, and throughout his life, family remained at the center of so many of his happiest memories.

One of those special memories was driving the “Mud Demon” with his father, a time Rudy treasured deeply. He also had a great love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing with his wife and children. For Rudy, those moments were about much more than fishing — they were about being together, sharing laughter, telling stories, and making memories that his family will carry with them for years to come.

Rudy also looked forward to the family tradition of preparing a pig for Christmas. It was one of those traditions that brought everyone together and became part of the fabric of the Garza family’s celebrations. Those familiar moments, filled with family, food, laughter, and togetherness, will now hold an even more special place in the hearts of those who loved him.

Rudy dedicated 18½ years of service to Cameron County Precinct 3 before retiring. His years of hard work reflected the dependable and committed spirit he carried throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramiro and Ida Martinez Garza, and his brother, Ramiro Garza, Jr.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving companion, Alicia Rodriguez; his children, Rudy Garza, Jr., Dominic (Myrea) Garza, Aaron Ross Garza, and Cristina (Daniel) Estrada, whom he lovingly raised as his own; his brother, Randy (Paula) Garza; his sister, Juanita (Joe) Vasquez; and his beloved grandchildren, Ryeanne Alicia Garza, Rosalie Jane Garza, Ariel Scarlett Garza, Raiden Dominic Garza, and Lyla Isabella Garza.

Rudy’s greatest legacy will not be measured by the years he lived, but by the love he gave, the memories he created, and the place he held in the lives of his family. Those who knew him will remember the moments spent outdoors, the family traditions he helped carry forward, and most of all, the love he had for those closest to him.

Although his family will deeply feel his absence, they will continue to carry Rudy with them in the stories they share, the traditions they continue, and the memories that will forever bring a smile to their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Los Fresnos Funeral Home, with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The Garza family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice and especially to Cris, Olivia, and Emily for the compassionate care, kindness, comfort, and support they provided to Rudy and his family during his time of need.
