Los Fresnos

Pedro Lerma, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Los Fresnos, Texas, surrounded by his loving family on April 27, 2025. Born on July 7, 1955, in San Benito, Texas, Pedro dedicated his life to serving others both in his career as a mechanic and in his cherished role as a family man.

For fifty years, Pedro operated his own mechanic shop Lerma's Auto Shop, where he exemplified a steadfast work ethic and a commitment to quality service. His hands brought reassurance and reliability to countless vehicles that traversed the roads of his community. Yet, while he took great pride in his work, it was his family that brought him the greatest joy. He shared a deep bond with his wife, Ludivina R. Lerma, with whom he celebrated fifty years of marriage. Together, they created a legacy of love that will resonate through generations. Ludivina lovingly called him "Mi Viejito Chulo" & "Haney"

Pedro's heart swelled with pride as he gathered around his children who lovingly called him "Deddy": Ludivina L. (Wally) Gomez, Pedro (Sarah) Lerma, Jr., Michael (Jessica) Lerma, and Claudia Lerma. They remember him as a guiding light, a steadfast support system, and an endless source of unconditional love. The laughter and happiness he shared with his grandchildren—Sandra Lee Mendiola, Lupe (Mercedes) Mendiola, Jr., Anthony Mendiola, Ludivina Lumbreras (Joseph), Lorie Monique Negrete, Leeandra Marley Gomez, Jose Monserato (Mayte) Lerma, Pedro Antonio Lerma, Larissa Lerma (Eric)Agado, Leslie Lerma (Jose)Mesa, Jr., Destiny Monique Lerma, Refugio Villarreal Jr., Alejandro Villarreal, Kimberly Gonzalez, Evelyn Gonzalez, Layla Lee Lerma, Melanie Marie Lerma, Lyanna Lerma, and Makayla Lerma—forever etched a place in their hearts, filled with stories, laughter, and boundless love.

As a proud great-grandfather, he found immense joy in the presence of Mirabel Elise, Mylah Mae, Anthony Reid, Noah Ray, Valentin, Marieth, Alexis Joy, Leonardo, Analaya, Aliyana, Meredith Alaine, Jose III, and Alejandro, Jr. Pedro's influence will surely carry forward, instilling values of kindness, hard work, and family unity in all of them.

Faith played a significant role in Pedro's life. He found solace and community at Iglesia Restuaracion y Poder y Gloria, where he cherished connections with his fellow congregants. He was known at church by "El Hombre de Fuego". His favorite hymn was Espirito de Dios He approached life with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Pedro is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Monserato Lerma and Genoveva Cruz Lerma, whose memories will forever live on through their son and the family he nurtured with love, and his brother Monse Lerma.

Family express their gratitude to Bristol Hospice -Maria A. Belmont, Robert Salinas RN, Maria Barrientos, Provider Cindy and Aydee Pineda, and nurse Bertha.

Pedro found comfort on a stuffed bear given to him which he named "Robert". Pedro also received comfort and companion from the loving pet dog "Blacky" who would sit by his side.
