Guadalupe M. Castro

Guadalupe M. Castro, 95, died Friday, January 12, 2024, in Harlingen, Texas. Born in Los Fresnos, Texas in 1928 to Cayetano and Rosa Montes, Guadalupe was the middle child out of eight children. She grew up in Los Fresnos and married Juan Castro (deceased) and raised four beautiful children in Los Fresnos. Guadalupe’s family was one of the oldest families to have arrived in the city of Los Fresnos.

Guadalupe’s life centered around her children and grandchildren whom she loved and cared for. She was active in the Community and often participated in our local politics. She worked many years with the Los Fresnos School District, and after retirement, she concentrated in the keeping up with her grandchildren and would love to take them in her “old Dodge” car to school.

To cherish her memories will be her family and her children, Juanita C. Shafer (Gerald), Dolores Ortiz, Gloria Montes (Jesse); along with six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 22, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Los Fresnos Funeral Home in Los Fresnos, Texas.

A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church in Olmito, Texas. Inurnment will follow at Los Cuates Cemetery in Los Fresnos, Texas.
