Gisela Banuelos, age 83, of Olmito, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. She was born on January 1, 1943, in Mexico to Jose Natividad Martinez and Maria Garcia Cabrera.
Gisela cherished spending time with the people she loved. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. Her warmth, kindness, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melquiades Banuelos; her parents, Jose Natividad Martinez and Maria Cabrera Garcia; and her siblings, Norma Vega, Mandira Garza, Nicasio Martinez, Juan Martinez, and Rosalinda Martinez.
Gisela is survived by her loving children: Jorge Martinez (Graciela), Claudia Hernandez (Juan De Dios), Lydia Mendez (Demetrio), and Melquiades Banuelos Jr. (Rebecca).
She also leaves behind many grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory: Victoria Alexis Cook, Luis Diego Banuelos, Alejandro Mel Banuelos, Natalia Gisela Banuelos, Tiger James Banuelos, Zavionnah Banuelos, Christian Alexander Mendez, Abraham Mendez, Victor Hugo Suarez, Caroline Mendez, Griselda Rodriguez, Eduardo Fernando Suarez, Briana Hernandez, Deyanira Jasso, Jorge Martinez Jr., Marco Antonio Gonzalez Banuelos, Norma Gonzalez Banuelos, Aracely Banuelos, and Monica Gonzalez Banuelos.
Her memory will also live on through her great-grandchildren: Kayla Rodriguez, Leonardo Suarez, Lucas Joaquin Suarez, Lucia Fernanda Suarez, Haven Grace Cook, Aliana Espinoza, Carlos Yandel Jasso, Jalisa Shakira Jasso, Isaac Gonzalez Banuelos, Giovanni Gonzalez Banuelos, Alvaro, Daisy, Julio Gonzalez Banuelos, Sandra Banuelos, and Bryan Banuelos.
She is also survived by her siblings, Sergio Martinez, David Martinez, and Apolonia Martinez; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her close friends, Flor Antonia Garcia Gonzalez (Tonita) and Hilda Guajardo.
Gisela's love and presence touched the lives of many. She will be remembered with love and treasured in the hearts of her family and friends. Though she is deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on through the generations of family she loved so dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Los Fresnos Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Los Fresnos Funeral Home, located at 1005 S. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, Texas.
